Winner ofS R Jindal Prize - 2011 for Rural Development And Poverty Alleviation

Dr. G. Gopal Reddy established Mahatama Gandhi Lift Irrigation Society in Gaddipalli village and solved the recurrent drought problem of his village. He provided leadership for this successful effort by securing the cooperation of all the farmers who contributed 10% of their land for common purpose. This scheme benefitted 7700 farmers to irrigate 6600 acres of land. He also motivated the villagers to take up other development works like establishment of a Krishi Vigyan Kendra, establishment of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Rural Development, education and health facilities, self help groups and animal husbandry facilities in the village.

'S R Jindal Prize -- 2011' for 'Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation' with a cash prize of Rs. 25 Lakhs is awarded to Dr. G. Gopal Reddy jointly with Lok Biradari, Prakalp, for his dedicated work for all round development of Gaddipalli Village of Garidepalli Mandal Nalgonda Dist.Andhra Pradesh.
